NetBSD/sun3 1.4.2 README file 1. INSTALL.html generated with "latin1" character set, not ASCII. 2. file-system UNION disabled in GENERIC* kernels for security reasons. Due to concerns about known security exploits using the UNION file system, it has been disabled in the shipping kernels. 3. Caveat for use of SunOS to produce boot tapes. When using SunOS 4.x to make the boot tapes, it may be necessary to ungzip all the appropriate bits (kernel and miniroot) to write to tape, and modify the install script to dd the ungzipped files to tape. Apparently, gzip piped through dd on SunOS 4.1.3 sun4 machines via the MakeBootTape script will not flush buffers correctly, and the kernel file or miniroot file written to tape comes up short in size. On booting, this is detected and the boot aborts to prom. The LAST_MINUTE file contains diffs for #1 and #2. Todd Whitesel toddpw @ netbsd.org Sat Mar 18 03:17:13 PST 2000
