Description of files found in .../NetBSD-1.4/i386/binary/sets: This directory contains the gzip compressed tar files of the binary distribution. The contents of these files are described fully in the INSTALL document. Note that you may use the unsplit versions in your installation with the supplied tools if you wish. The Split/ directory contains split versions of these same files. These are provided to permit installation from floppy disks for those with no other means of installation. See INSTALL for details. Note that this method of installation is extremely laborious and not recommended if any other alternative exists. Note that the binary distribution of security related software is contained elsewhere in a parallel directory on those distribution sites that have it. If you are in a place where you can legally get it (i.e. the United States), you should get and install the security software, too. See INSTALL and the numerous README.export-control files for details. Every directory contains several checksum files (BSDSUM, CKSUM, MD5, & SYSVSUM) that contain checksums of all the other files made with the cksum(1) utility. The MD5 checksums made with "cksum -m" are considered the "safest", followed by the CKSUM POSIX-style checksums made with the plain "cksum" command. Please check the integrity of your distribution against one of these sets of checksums if possible. The BSDSUM and SYSVSUM files contain checksums made with the historical BSD and System V checksum utilities and are provided for those with no other checksum utilities available.
